Compare rental software, honestly

How these comparisons work

These pages compare the major equipment rental and hire software — MCS, inspHire, Current RMS, Booqable and others — against MovoGo, feature by feature. Every comparison table renders from the same competitor feature matrix, so the ratings are consistent and dated, competitor strengths are named honestly, and MovoGo is only marked ahead where it genuinely is: transparent pricing, a built-in demand marketplace, cloud-native workflow and EU-native accounting.

How to choose rental software

Most rental software shortlists go wrong the same way: four vendors get scored on a feature list where they all say yes, and the decision defaults to whoever demoed last. The four questions below separate the field faster than any feature grid — answer them first, then use the comparisons underneath to check your shortlist against the matrix.

Published price, or a quote?

A quote-gated vendor isn't hiding a bad price — it's running an enterprise sales motion, which usually means a longer cycle, per-user or per-module maths and a number that moves with your fleet size. That's fine if you have procurement time and want the negotiating room. If you need a budget line this quarter, start with the vendors that publish.

Cloud-native, or a cloud edition of an older system?

"Cloud" covers two very different things: software designed for the browser, and a hosted version of a client-server product built in the 1990s. The second still works — a lot of the UK's largest fleets run on it — but expect a heavier interface, a project-managed implementation and features that arrive on a release cycle rather than continuously.

Do you need a demand network, or just the software?

Almost every platform on this page manages your fleet; almost none brings you demand for it. If your utilisation problem is idle kit rather than admin, that gap matters more than any feature row. If your yard is already at 85% and the pain is paperwork, it doesn't — and you should weight the ops depth instead.

Is it built for hire, or for events and AV?

Current RMS, Rentman and Booqable are strong products aimed at event, AV and consumer-facing rental. MCS, inspHire, Syrinx and myRMS aim at UK plant, tool and access hire. The trades need different things — operated vs dry hire, thorough-examination dates, component-level scaffold returns — and a mismatch here costs more than any pricing difference.

How these comparisons work

Straight answers about how we compare — and how fair it is.

They're published by MovoGo, so treat them as a vendor comparison — but they're built to be fair. Every feature rating comes from one shared competitor matrix sourced from vendor sites and review platforms, competitor strengths are stated plainly, and MovoGo is only marked ahead where the matrix backs it. Each competitor page cites its sources.

It depends on your trade. MovoGo is the strongest fit for hire businesses that want transparent pricing, a cloud-native workflow and a built-in demand marketplace. For AV and event rental, Current RMS or Rentman fit better; for a fast SMB storefront, Booqable. The MCS comparison page lays out the trade-offs.

Each competitor profile carries its own 'last updated' date and is refreshed when a competitor changes pricing, ownership or major features. If you spot something out of date, the fastest fix is to tell us on a demo call.
